A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in diameter consisting of a silver gi-geh (Korean A frame) including basket and sling ropes, between four silver stars crosswise all upon a taeguk of red above blue below; enclosed by a buff motto scroll bearing the words CARRYING THE LOAD at the top and TO WIN in base in silver letters.
Buff and scarlet are the colors associated with Support groups. The A frame with basket is indicative of Korea and reflects the units motto and mission. The white stars on the red and blue taeguk recall the predominant colors in both countries flags and symbolize the close United States-South Korean relationship. The twenty points of the four stars suggest the units numerical designation and are placed on a taeguk indicating the units location.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 29 January 1986.
